Our Six Step Process
1. Timeline Development - We work with you to develop an estimated timeline for the completion of certain tasks and items related to the creation of your book, including: drafting and completion of your manuscript, editing, interior layout, exterior book cover design, printing, shipping, delivery and distribution. If you require additional assistance with completing and preparing your manuscript, you may wish to consider our consulting services.
2. Author-Publisher Agreement - Using this timeline as a guide, we create your Author-Publisher Agreement, detailing your unique publishing needs, defining the terms and conditions, and outline the flow of your book publishing project. Signed by both author and publisher, it serves as our official reference our delivery of services to you. Specific elements within it include services to be rendered, package descriptions, number of books ordered (if any), cost, payment plan, reprint costs, copyrights, royalties, termination of contract restrictions, and other details pertaining to your individual project.
3. Manuscript Drafting Process - The time-frame for the drafting process is particularly dependent upon how quickly you respond to our requests for information. One of our first considerations is your manuscript, and what it may need in order to become polished enough to publish. Some authors come to us at the start of their writing process, others after they have already completing their manuscript. Either way, our initial drafting process consists of a review and basic edit (if needed) to your manuscript. If we perform edits, you will be provided with a draft to review and suggest any additional edits. Our Premier Book Publishing Program includes a book review, basic editing, as well as two opportunities for you, the author, to review your manuscript. We've found this review process efficient for creating a high quality manuscript. Finally, your manuscript is formatted into a print-ready file.
4. Book Cover Design - Our graphic designers collaborate with you to design your customized front and back book cover. We encourage your input of ideas, visions and images. Two cover mock-ups are included in the Premier Book Publishing Program and when we design your book cover through our Book Cover Designing services. We work with you to write the text for the back cover. Once you've approved the front cover design and back cover text, our graphic designers format your book cover into a print-ready file.
5. Printing - With the two print-ready files (manuscript and book cover), we're off to the press! We print a book proof as a test to ensure the formatting is correct and that your book appears correctly when printed. This key step eliminates any errors in printing. The production of your printed book proof may take up to four weeks, although typically a book proof is generated in 2-3 weeks. If you ordered copies of your book, your full book order will be printed and shipped to an address you provide. Please visit the Printing page for more details on the digital printing process for your book.
6. Book Sales - As part of our Premier Book Publishing Program, your book is automatically entered to be review by the Library of Congress for inclusion in libraries. Additionally, your book is registered with Abe Books, Baker & Taylor, Global Books in Print, RR Bowker Books in Print, and other global whole sale book distributer. Your book will be made available on many online book retailer's websites, including Amazon.com which accounts for 85% of online book sales. Because your book is registered in our distribution network, your book will be available to order at virtually every major bookstore. Book sales are processed and you earn a royalty on every copy that sells!
